Emergence Hole

An Emergence Hole is a hole that the Locust use to gain access to the surface of the planet. As one of these open, the Locust begin to pour out of them.

It's much advised to use some explosive device to close them up. A Frag Grenade or the The Hammer of Dawn usually work quite nicely. Similarly, firing an arrow from the Torque Bow with enough power to embed it into the wall of the Emergence hole will close it.

If no explosive is on hand, simply stand over the hole and kill all enemies that emerge from that hole. Using the chainsaw bayonet on the Lancer is effective when Emergence holes contain only Drones. In later missions involving Wretches, this tactic becomes less effective - a single melee is most effective, rather than the melee sequence of the Lancer.
