The best hall sensor PC controller – no more stick drift!

GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro Wireless Controller is a relatively new gamepad in the third-party controllers scene, but it has already made waves for its cross-compatibility and durability. The controller comes with Hall Effect sensors which are superior to these used in your usual Xbox or Playstation controllers.

Gulikit KingKong 2 comes with a hard carrying case that is perfect for travelers or for those who want to keep their gaming gear safe. It’s not without its flaws, but it has some impressive features that make it a game changer in joystick technology.

Hall Effect Joysticks are a game-changer

One of the most notable features of the King Kong 2 Pro Controller is its use of hall effect joysticks. Unlike potentiometer-based joysticks used in other popular gaming controllers, hall effect joysticks are more durable and have a longer lifespan. Potentiometer-based joysticks rely on moving wearing parts, which can cause joystick drift, making the joystick unreliable over time. Hall effect joysticks, on the other hand, use permanent magnets to determine the position of the joystick, resulting in a more reliable and longer-lasting joystick.

I use this controller for playing Rocket League semicompetitively. And also for EA FC 24 and Yakuza games to name a few. The best controller for these games IMO.

  • New Patented Electromagnetic Stick without any drift. Exclusive FPS mode: 100% No Dead Zone. Supported stick sensitivity adjustment and special steel ring on stick gives you a smooth gaming feeling.

The King Kong 2 Pro Controller also offers impressive cross-compatibility, allowing users to select either D or X input on Windows, as well as Android or iOS compatibility mode. The controller also has specific Nintendo Switch buttons and a six-axis gyroscope, making it an ideal choice for Switch players who want to avoid wearing out their joysticks. However, the controller is not compatible with Xbox and requires a third-party dongle to connect.

In addition to its superior joystick technology and cross-compatibility, the King Kong 2 Pro Controller offers impressive repairability options. The controller comes with replacement mechanical buttons, keycaps, and even replacement joysticks for the Steam Deck, making it easy for users to repair their controller and extend its lifespan.

Despite its impressive features, the King Kong 2 Pro Controller is not without its flaws. The carrying case lacks a pass-through for charging, and the hinge appears to be fragile. Additionally, the controller’s gyroscope can be jittery at times, and the controller’s finish can be prone to friction.

Overall, the GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro Wireless Controller is an impressive new entrant into the gaming industry. Its use of hall effect joysticks and cross-compatibility make it a game changer in joystick technology. While there are some flaws to be addressed, the King Kong 2 Pro Controller offers an excellent alternative to the more expensive first-party controllers currently available. Its repairability options and durable build make it a smart investment for gamers who want a high-quality controller that will last for years to come.

What’s the alternative to King Kong 2 Pro?

8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller is a great and at the moment the only alternative to KingKong 2 Pro. It has the exact same hall effects sensors produced by Gulikit and if you prefer a slightly different shape and design of the controller, then this is definitely worth a look.

In the middle of 2023 there has also been a release of GameSir T4 Kaleid Controller. It’s a cheaper wired-only alternative, priced at $41.99 with their own hall effect sensors. It’s definitely the best priced gamepad with Hall Effect sensors out there.

The GameSir T4 Kaleid Controller impresses with its significant upgrades over the G7 (previous controller from the company), despite a couple of initial hiccups. The hall effect sticks are a joy, but the thumb grips may need an aftermarket solution for optimal use. The D-Pad outshines the G7’s, and the ABXY buttons feel more responsive.

While it’s a bit bulkier, the ergonomics still make it comfortable, even superior to the G7 after extended use. The trigger action is smoother, and the absence of rubber grips is a welcome change. The price is fair for a wired controller with two back buttons and no trigger stops. At $42, it’s a reasonable buy considering the quality offered. Despite being new to the market, the T4K delivers a solid gaming experience, earning it a solid 4.5 stars from me. If priced at $35, it’d have been a no-brainer 5-star product.
