Steam Review Rating System Explained – Overwhelmingly Positive, Negative and Mixed

How to get your Steam game review rating to Overwhelmingly Positive? These tables below explain the Steam rating system and what percentage of positive reviews you need to get a better review rating label.

The number of reviews plays a crucial role. You need at least 10 reviews from people who bought your game directly from Steam (review keys, resellers like Humble Bundle don’t count). After 10 reviews you will get a rating scale for your game. And only after 500 reviews you can obtain the holy grail – overwhelmingly positive Steam game rating.

Steam also has Recent reviews and All Reviews labels. Recent reviews are the reviews only made within the 30 recent days.

Also, the Steam rating will also show in Google results thanks to Schema.org and it will show a X/10 score of your game and the number of all reviews made by Steam users.

The table categorizes Steam reviews based on their positivity percentage and the number of reviews received. For 10-49 reviews, 80-100% positive is “Positive,” 70-79% is “Mostly Positive,” and so forth. For 50-499 reviews, similar labels apply, but 80-100% positive becomes “Very Positive.” For 500+ reviews, 95-100% positive is “Overwhelmingly Positive,” 80-94% is “Very Positive,” and 70-79% is also “Very Positive.”
