Remember those fantastic Redwall books by Brian Jacques? The ones where brave mice and badgers fought against villainous rats and weasels? Well, get ready to dive back into that world with The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout Anthology! This narrative adventure game lets you step into the shoes of a young scout and go on an epic adventure.

Now, I never actually read the Redwall books myself, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this game. You play as either Sophia or Liam, a new recruit in the Lilygrove Scout Corp. Your job? To learn the ways of the woods and keep Mossflower safe from any threats. But before you can graduate, WHAM! Sea rats attack your home!
The story unfolds across three acts, each throwing a new challenge your way. You’ll team up with other woodland creatures, sniff out danger with your super-powered mouse nose, and even outrun a giant, hungry rat (seriously, that part was intense!).

Here’s what I loved about the game:
- The Story- It’s like playing through a classic Redwall adventure. The narrative is exciting, with twists and turns that kept me guessing. Plus, the voice acting is top-notch, bringing the characters to life.
- The Choices- You get to pick between Sophia or Liam at the beginning, and each character has a unique backstory. Plus, there are different conversation options throughout the game, so you can replay it and experience the story in a different way.
- The Mouse Stuff- Being a mouse is pretty cool in this game! You can squeeze through tiny holes, dig tunnels, and sniff out hidden things. It adds a fun layer of exploration to the gameplay.
- The Music- Let me tell you, the soundtrack is AMAZING. It’s beautiful and atmospheric, perfectly capturing the spirit of the Redwall world.

Now, it’s not all sunshine and roses. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
- The Graphics– They’re not the most cutting-edge, but they have a certain charm. Think of it like a classic storybook come to life.
- The Optional Quests- They’re not really optional! The game marks them as “optional” but then fails them if you don’t do them. That can be a little confusing.
- The Controls- They can feel a bit clunky at times, especially when it comes to platforming sections.
Despite a few things, The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout Anthology is a charming and engaging adventure. If you’re a fan of the Redwall books, you’ll definitely love this game. But even if you’re new to the world, the story, characters, and overall atmosphere are sure to win you over. Just be prepared for some occasional frustration with the controls and misleading quests.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely! It’s a fun and heartwarming adventure that will leave you wanting more. Just remember, there’s a brave warrior mouse (or squirrel) in all of us!
