V Rising 1.0 Review

I have played a bit of V Rising in Early Access and just came back to this title when 1.0 update dropped in. And it’s really good. This game is a perfect blend of action RPG and survival elements, with a dash of MOBA-style combat that keeps things exciting.

Gameplay

The core gameplay loop is addicting: you wake up as a vampire and need to build your castle, gather resources, and fight your way up the food chain. The combat is fast, fluid, and surprisingly skill-based, with a variety of build options to suit your playstyle. I particularly enjoyed experimenting with different spells and abilities, like summoning exploding frost bats or death knights to do my bidding.

Graphics

The game’s comic book aesthetic is beautiful, and the world is well-crafted and a joy to explore. I was impressed by the level of detail, from the creepy forests to the imposing vampire castles. The day-night cycle adds an extra layer of challenge and atmosphere, as you have to be extra careful venturing out during the day to avoid the sun’s harmful rays.

Building and Crafting

The base-building aspect is deep and rewarding. You can customize your castle to your heart’s content, and the crafting system is intuitive and offers a wide range of options for creating weapons, armor, and other essential items.

The Vampire Experience

V Rising truly captures the essence of being a vampire. From the character customization options (which let you create your perfect goth or aristocratic vamp) to the blood-sucking mechanics and the need to avoid sunlight, it’s clear the developers put a lot of thought into making you feel like a powerful creature of the night.

The Verdict

V Rising is a must-play for fans of action RPGs, survival games, or anyone who’s ever wanted to live out their vampire fantasies. It’s a polished, engaging experience with a lot to offer, and I can see myself sinking many more hours into it.

Pros:

  • Fun and engaging gameplay loop
  • Fluid, skill-based combat with diverse build options
  • Beautiful graphics and a well-crafted world
  • Deep and rewarding base-building and crafting systems
  • Captures the essence of being a vampire

Cons:

  • Early levels can feel a bit repetitive
  • Story could be more developed

Overall, V Rising is a bloody fantastic game that I highly recommend. It’s an absolute triumph in game design and a testament to the developers’ passion and dedication. If you’re looking for a new game to sink your teeth into, look no further than V Rising. You won’t be disappointed.
